He became the forty-fourth president of the United States of America. The platform lifted off to the top of the building. A roar erupted from the crowd, the cry of joy of a nation liberated. A new "American dream." The road ahead would be long and difficult, but everyone wanted to believe that, that night, this man would not abandon them at the edge of the nation's history.
